Kindness
In smiles they wear, a gentle guise,
Behind soft words, a truth belies,
For kindness shown, with heart concealed,
Is often part of wounds unhealed.
They care, they give, yet not for you,
But for the image they pursue.
In seeking love, they play the role,
Of giving, though to fill their soul.
For kindness dressed in selfish skin,
A hollow echo deep within,
They fear to fall, to lose their place,
And kindness masks their frantic chase.
Yet deep beneath the surface there,
The heart still yearns for love to share,
And though they seek with self in mind,
Perhaps in time, they too, will find.
